We traveled this weekend to Natchitoches, Louisiana to attend the wedding of our oldest son. As is typical for me, I had the camera out and was taking pictures at the rehearsal and at the wedding. I don’t know much about what I am doing with a camera in my hand but I do love taking pictures :)! One thing I usually tell everyone is that I know if I take enough pictures, surely I will get a few that are really good.
We arrived on Friday morning and stayed at the Steel Magnolia House Bed and Breakfast on Jefferson Street. What a wonderful time we had in store for us. Romans 8:28(KJV) says “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” We had rooms reserved at one of the local hotels until we got the call from Joshua saying that he had reserved a room at the B&B for one of his groomsmen and his family. Apparently, the family wasn’t going to be attending the wedding so now there was room for our family to stay there instead. So, as we have seen over and over throughout the last few years, the favor that comes from having Jesus as your bridegroom was showing up again! *wink* The owner of the Steel Magnolia house really pampers her guests and makes you feel ultra special. She made cookies and placed them in our room on both days. We also had homemade chocolate treats…yummy! The last morning before we left, we had a wonderful breakfast that had a French name that I can’t pronounce or remember, and then a tour of the house that was used in the filming of the movie “Steel Magnolias”. My husband and I both talked about this being the best “stay” we had ever had, anywhere!
The rehearsal was on Friday night and we enjoyed meeting all of the wedding party and the bride’s parents and family. What a great celebration a wedding get-together is. My daughter and I went shopping on Saturday and then to get ready for the big moment on Saturday night. Everything was beautifully planned out and went according to plan, as far as I could tell. The reception was a lot of fun, with dancing and wine flowing. This was a remarkable weekend, with memories being made to last a lifetime.
When I arrived home, I started going through the pictures. That is when I started getting emotional. As I looked at the pictures of the Bride and Groom and seeing the love in their eyes, it dawned on me that we are the bride of Christ. The perfect picture of God’s love for his children is to show that he gave his Son for us. The institution of marriage, a man and woman leaving their father and mother and joining to one another, is the very first of the honorable institutions HE put in place. Oh, what a blessing it is when we open our eyes and see how much love that the Groom has for his Bride!
Do you have a passionate relationship with the groom? It really is all about relationship. Whether you have one now or not doesn’t matter. Make it your goal to find out how much Jesus really loves you and only good comes out of that desire. You will be amazed, as I have been, when blessings just start showing up in your life…EVERYWHERE!
